Change your master password

Update your master password and re-encrypt your vault in place.

How it works

Changing your master password re-derives your encryption keys and re-encrypts your entire vault with the new key. The process is done on your device — we never see either password.

Steps

  1. Go to Settings → Security → Master password
  2. Enter your current password to confirm your identity
  3. Enter and confirm the new password
  4. Click Change password — the re-encryption takes a few seconds

After changing your password, all other sessions are signed out automatically. Sign back in on each device with the new password.

Password requirements

Rule Minimum
Length 12 characters
Recommended 20+ characters or a passphrase

Use the built-in password generator to create a strong one.
