Set up account recovery

Create a recovery key and trusted contacts before you need them.

Why this matters

Because Enbox is zero-knowledge, we cannot reset your password for you. If you forget your master password and have no recovery set up, your data is permanently inaccessible.

Set up recovery before you need it.

Recovery key

A recovery key is a 24-word phrase generated on your device. Store it somewhere safe — printed on paper, in a fireproof safe, or with a trusted person.

  1. Go to Settings → Security → Recovery key
  2. Click Generate recovery key
  3. Write it down and confirm you have saved it
  • Recovery key generated
  • Stored in a safe place (not only on this device)
  • Trusted contact added (optional extra layer)

Trusted contacts

A trusted contact can approve a recovery request — useful if you lose your recovery key too. Go to Settings → Security → Trusted contacts and add up to three people.
